Ad blockers (such as AdBlock) will stop working in Google Chrome in January 2023.
This is due to the introduction of a new software interface, the transition to which should take place early next year.
The upcoming surprise was tracked by developers of browser add-ons and Reddit users who paid attention to the document published on Google's website.
The company's statement says that since January 2023, the Chrome Web Store will stop accepting plugins created in accordance with the Manifest V2 specification. Developers will have to upgrade to implement compatibility with the third version of the tool (Manifest V3), while all ad-blocking apps work and will continue to work on version V2.
