Discord has announced that it is doing away with the four-digit numeric suffixes that are usually added after usernames. Now most of the site's users will have to change their nicknames, so they won't be repeated.

However, the process of renaming, which will give preference to the older accounts, has caused controversy among users. Thus, there were questions about how to be famous streamers, who will probably have to give up their usual nicknames.

In response, Discord said that it will try to change the procedure of renaming for the most famous users. Kellin Sloan, director of product communications, said that such users "will be able to choose names before anyone else."
