Girls’ Team: A Historic Milestone
The girls’ cross country team made waves by securing their first section title since 2023 and advancing as a team to the state championships. At states, they stood as the third-highest placing WPIAL team, a testament to their dedication and prowess. Their remarkable journey included young runners like freshmen Claire Loiudice, Maeve Sherry, and Sydney Kimmons, and sophomores Bridge Hemingray and Ella Shevchuk, each bringing their unique flair to the squad.
Coach Tom Moul couldn’t be prouder. “They are young, determined, and ready to conquer new horizons in the indoor season,” Moul shared with a smile.
Boys’ Team: Building Leaders for Tomorrow
The boys’ team continued its dominance by clinching a seventh consecutive section title, showcasing the seasoned capabilities and the budding talent within its ranks. Freshman Asher Eckel, a standout performer, along with senior Michael Costello, led the charge at the state level.
“Asher is a promising talent, and the others see the potential paths to success through his eyes,” Moul emphasized. Asher, finishing the states with a commendable timing and spirit, embodies the future of Fox Chapel cross country.
Coach’s Reflections: A Season of Growth
Reflecting on the season, Moul expressed mild disappointment in not achieving the second WPIAL position but acknowledged the exponential growth and potential of his young team. “We were aiming for more, but the experience and resilience we’ve gained are invaluable,” he remarked with hopeful anticipation.
