Switzerland's Stadler has launched a hydrogen-fueled train that has set a new world record by traveling 2803 kilometers without the need for additional refueling or recharging. This remarkable achievement was accomplished by the Flirt model train during a test run on March 20, 2024, at a testing facility in Colorado, USA. However, the news of this record-breaking event was made public on March 25, when the company officially announced its success.

The journey, which lasted about 46 hours, showcased the high efficiency and reliability of hydrogen transport. The train, designed to accommodate 108 passengers with additional standing room, achieved maximum speeds of up to 130 km/h. This success underscores the significant potential of hydrogen as an alternative fuel source for public transportation.

During the record-setting journey, Stadler meticulously recorded all telemetric information, which allowed for the precise documentation of the achievement for submission to the Guinness World Records. This is not the first time Stadler has demonstrated innovation in the field of clean transport. In December 2021, the company made history with its battery-powered Flirt train, which traveled 224 kilometers in Germany without recharging, setting another world record.

This new milestone confirms the capabilities of hydrogen fuel as an effective and eco-friendly solution for future transportation. Hydrogen trains not only offer efficiency and long-range travel but also contribute to reducing harmful emissions by releasing only water vapor into the atmosphere.
