iOS has a problem with VPNs that Apple knows about but doesn't fix.

As it turns out, the operating system does not fully pass network traffic through the virtual private network, which is a potential security problem.

According to Proton from Switzerland, this problem occurred at least in iOS 13.3.1 and has remained in newer versions of the system. Ideally, connecting via VPN should close existing connections, but it does not.
