NVIDIA Acquires Israeli AI Optimization Startup Run:ai for $700 Million
NVIDIA has officially announced its acquisition of the Israeli startup Run:ai, which specializes in developing software for optimizing artificial intelligence (AI) applications and workloads on graphics processing units (GPUs). The transaction is reportedly valued at approximately $700 million, although figures as high as $1 billion were previously mentioned. This acquisition aligns with NVIDIA's strategy to expand its presence in the AI ecosystem.
Run:ai's technology is based on Kubernetes, which helps enterprises efficiently manage computing infrastructure for AI tasks both in the cloud and on local servers. A centralized interface facilitates the distribution of GPU capabilities across various workloads, enhancing resource optimization.
Top executives highlight that this approach not only optimizes GPU cluster resources but also improves infrastructure management and increases flexibility. The capabilities of Run:ai will be integrated into NVIDIA's DGX products and DGX Cloud, maintaining the existing business model of customer service.
Founded in 2018, Run:ai has already collaborated with NVIDIA for several years. Its client roster includes major companies such as Sony, Adobe, BNY Mellon, among others. Prior to the acquisition, the startup had attracted more than $105 million in investments.
