Participants at the Black Hat cybersecurity conference discovered vulnerabilities in the Electron framework, which underpins Discord, Microsoft Teams, Slack and a host of other applications.

They received more than $10,000 for their work.

In the case of Discord, the bug the researchers discovered only required them to send a malicious link to the video. In Microsoft Teams, the discovered bug could be exploited by inviting the victim to a meeting. In both cases, clicking on the links gave hackers the ability to gain control of the systems.
