Reddit reported on an IT hack. Hackers were able to download internal documents and platform source codes. User credentials were not affected in the incident, as they were in a different security loop.

The company explained that Reddit's IT systems were hacked as a result of a sophisticated and targeted phishing attack.

After intercepting one employee's credentials, including 2FA tokens, as part of the phishing attack, hackers gained access to the platform's internal documents, source code and internal business systems for a time.

Hackers were also able to copy a database with hundreds of company and employee (current and former) contacts, as well as limited information about advertisers.
