Revolutionary MRI Technology at Penn State Health Shortens Anesthesia Time, Transforming Pediatric Care
In a groundbreaking move for pediatric healthcare, Penn State Health has introduced Deep Resolve technology, a cutting-edge development in MRI imaging that significantly cuts down anesthesia time for young patients. According to Penn State Health News, this advancement is particularly valuable for children, providing not only faster but also clearer images without extended exposure to anesthesia.
A Leap Forward in Pediatric Care
Thanks to the support from Children’s Miracle Network and the local community, Penn State Health’s Milton S. Hershey Medical Center unveils Deep Resolve, an AI-powered imaging solution crafted by Siemens Healthineers. It’s revolutionizing the way MRI scans are conducted, with a special focus on minimizing the anesthesia duration for children.
“Reducing anesthesia time is a game-changer for children,” said Anita Krivenko, chief MRI technologist at the center. “It means less risk, less stress, and a more comfortable experience for our youngest patients and their families.”
Deep Learning Meets Medical Imaging
Deep Resolve employs advanced deep learning techniques to quicken scan times significantly. The transformation is evident at Penn State Health Golisano Children’s Hospital, where scan times have been shortened by seven to 10 minutes per exam on average. The technology has demonstrated such accuracy and reliability that about 90% of pediatric scans are conducted using this method.
Expanding Beyond Pediatric Use
Though initially tailored for pediatric patients, adult patients at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center also benefit from this technology. The reduction in scan times facilitates swifter services and diminished wait periods, enhancing patient comfort and healthcare accessibility across all age groups.
Community Support and Future Plans
Children’s Miracle Network played a pivotal role in funding Deep Resolve. Their contribution is vital in supporting life-saving equipment and innovative research, ensuring that children receive the best possible care with state-of-the-art technology. Penn State Health plans to equip eight MRI scanners across its system with Deep Resolve, solidifying its commitment to advanced patient care.
“We’re incredibly grateful to our donors and community partners,” expressed Katie Anderson, director of Children’s Miracle Network. Their unwavering support is instrumental in bringing advanced medical technology to our hospital, ensuring that care quality meets the highest standards right here in central Pennsylvania.
Looking Ahead
As Penn State Health continues to implement Deep Resolve across its facilities, it marks a significant leap towards improved healthcare solutions, offering a promising future for both pediatric and adult patient care. This initiative not only symbolizes technological advancement but also reflects an enduring commitment to patient-centered progress in healthcare.
