Ruhullah Dismisses Land Scam Allegations as Political Charade

Motivation Apr 15, 2025

The political climate in Jammu and Kashmir seems to have taken yet another tumultuous turn as National Conference (NC) leader and Member of Parliament Syed Aga Ruhullah stands at the center of a storm involving allegations of a land compensation scam. “These allegations are nothing more than baseless claims and politically motivated stunts,” Ruhullah asserted in a recent press conference, responding firmly to his name appearing in a recent charge sheet.

Unveiling the Allegations

Just a day before Ruhullah’s defiant briefing, the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Jammu and Kashmir Police named him as one of the 22 individuals in their charge sheet, which included six of his relatives, concerning alleged irregularities in land compensation. The controversy is entangled with his family’s ancestral land, managed through generational inheritance.

The Defense

Ruhullah has never been implicated in dealings with the land in question, inherited from his late grandfather, highlighting that the compensation awarded was routine and extended to many in the locality. “I am the third in line of inheritance, with no involvement in negotiations or decisions,” he elaborated, emphasizing the absence of any formal queries or contacts by the ACB over the years.

Timing and Political Undertones

Truth mingles with skepticism as Ruhullah critiques the timing of the allegations. “This feels like an April Fool’s prank, just delayed till April 13,” he quipped, underscoring what he perceives as an elaborate effort to intimidate and mute dissenting voices in the region, particularly his vocal stance against the abrogation of Article 370 and his advocacy for human rights.

Unyielding Message

With a resolve that echoes throughout the region, Ruhullah remains unshaken. “If the aim is to silence me, then restore Article 370, uphold minority rights, and bring back the dignity of Jammu and Kashmir. Fabricated cases won’t work,” he declares, projecting a narrative of defiance and continued advocacy for justice in the region he calls home.

The situation in Jammu and Kashmir, as stated in Deccan Herald, continues to unfold, with political undercurrents shaping the discourse and defense strategies adopted by leaders like Ruhullah.
