Swans Roebourne's Dynamic Duo Set to Transform Community Impact
A New Era of Growth in Roebourne
Swans Roebourne is gearing up for an inspiring transformation as they welcome two dynamic new Social Impact Coordinators to their team. This significant enhancement comes as a result of a groundbreaking three-year partnership between the Swan Districts Football Club and Rio Tinto. According to Swan Districts FC, this collaboration aims to elevate Swans’ programs, focusing on enriching the lives of young individuals and their families.
Meet the Changemakers
Both appointees bring local expertise and passion to the table. Tyla Drew and Andrew Westbrook are prepared to drive positive changes with their in-depth knowledge and connection to the community. Their shared love for the vibrant lifestyle, and an unwavering commitment to community development, sets a promising tone for their roles.
Tyla Drew: Embracing the Community
Having lived in Karratha for 11 years and rooted in the Pilbara for over 15 years, Tyla Drew is inspired by the community’s spirit. Her weekends are spent amidst nature or engaging actively in local sports, embodying the values she aims to instill through her work with Swans’ programs. Tyla’s enthusiasm radiates as she expresses, “I look forward to making an impact in my new role.”
Andrew Westbrook: A Journey Towards Home
Andrew Westbrook’s journey with Swans began as a volunteer. Over the years, his affinity with the community has grown, making the region feel like home. Andrew’s transition to a full-time capacity holds the promise of expanding opportunities and meaningful connections for young people in Roebourne.
Expanding Horizons and Community Engagement
The partnership with Rio Tinto paves the way for an enriching expansion of Roebourne’s initiatives. Previously, Swans delivered over 200 regional activities, engaging 291 young people in mentoring programs. Now, the scope extends beyond school hours and reaches the Wickham community.
A Vision for Remote Living
Swan District Football Club’s Director of Social Impact, Ian Westmore, underscores the partnership’s aim to address the challenges of remote living. He notes, “Our partnership with Rio Tinto enables our Swans staff to be immersed in the community, not just as a service provider. Community partners are integral to the impact of all our Swans’ programs, where the focus is on improving the lives of people.”
