The administration of the Stack Overflow forum has temporarily banned the responses generated by the OpenAI ChatGPT AI bot.

The reason is that the bot often gave answers which looked like the correct answers, but were misleading. Administration will decide on the final policy on ChatGPT, based on the results of internal discussions, taking into account the opinion of the forum.

As explained in the message from the moderators, the forum already has thousands of bot-generated responses.

The fact that they are published in huge numbers and require verification by someone with at least some knowledge of the subject area has "effectively flooded" the moderation infrastructure on Stack Overflow.
