Tesla lost about $170 million in six months of 2022 because of the sagging Bitcoin exchange rate.
That's the data in the company's quarterly report to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, released today.
On July 20, Tesla converted about 75% of its Bitcoin into U.S. currency, generating $936 million, though the equivalent of about $1.2 billion in previous quarters.
The firm's remaining digital assets are worth $218 million. As a reminder, Tesla bought $1.5 billion worth of Bitcoin back in early 2021.
